OUR HISTORY AND OUR TEAM

Local Wheelchair Braves started out as a few people shooting hoops in 2008, then after a few years of limbo DSR (Disability Sport & Recreation) Victoria organised training in 2012 and the Bendigo Prospectors were created, the prospectors got the win in their first ever tournament, before later being re-branded as Bendigo GOLD in 2014.

In May 2016 Bendigo GOLD Team Manager Mark Logan and Bendigo Basketball Association Director Daniel Nancarrow proposed a merger to the Bendigo Basketball Association. Re-branding and full financial support to become Bendigo Wheelchair Braves. This was adopted with welcome arms.

In 2019, the Wheelchair Braves re-branded to the Bendigo Roller Braves. The Roller Braves are an exciting team to watch with the team having two current players, Jontee Brown and Bree Mellberg attend camps in an attempt to make the final cut in the Australian Rollers and Australian Gliders teams, with hope to represent Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic games
