MUVJBL Round 16

Round 16 saw all 3 of our Junior Braves VC teams win their games while both of our VJL ONE sides were unfortunately defeated. 4 out of our 5 Junior Braves sides are currently in finals positions and will hopefully be able to hold onto them with 3 games to go for our VC sides and 2 for our VJL ONE sides.

 

Under 14 Girls

The Under 14 Girls came up just short against country rivals Ballarat, losing the game 33 to 28. Kaleah Bonanno led the Junior Braves with 10 points and with 2 three pointers to her name and Ronell Masiboy finished the game 7 points. This loss leaves the Junior Braves side in 4th spot with two games to go. The 14 Girls are at home against 3rd placed Bulleen 2 and will be hopping for a win to secure a finals finish.

 

Under 16 Girls

The Under 16 Girls paid Hawthorn back for earlier on in the season and came out on top with the final score being 59 to 43. Piper Dunlop led the game with 19 points, Meg McCarthy had 11 points and both Ellie Vlaeminck and Holly Lockhart finished the game with 8 points. The Junior Braves side currently sit in 8th place but there is only 6 points between them and 1st placed Southern Peninsula. The 16 Girls come up against Nunawading 2 at the Bendigo Stadium on Friday night and will be hoping to jump them on the ladder with a win.

 

Under 14 Boys

The Under 14 Boys has a massive 40 point win against Latrobe Energy outscoring them by 20 points in just the first quarter. Malik Gordon led the scoring for the Braves with 17 points, Patrick Byrne had 13 points and Joshua Smith had 11 points with two three pointers. The Final score of the match was 76 to 36. The Under 14 Boys travel to Geelong on Friday to face off with the 1st placed Supercats.

 

Under 16 Boys

The Under 16 Boys had a big win on their sponsor’s night defeating Ballarat 58 to 52 on the new Court 1 at the Bendigo Stadium. Dyson Daniels led the Braves with 23 points with 3 three pointers, Dylan McCauley finished the game with 11 points and 2 three pointers and Zac Frye chipped in with 8 points and 1 three pointer. The 16 Boys will head down to Keilor to face the 7th placed Thunder this Friday night.

 

Under 18 Boys

The Under 18 Boys came up short against 4th placed Collingwood, the Boys started off the first half slow and then ended up winning the second half by 1 point. William “Billy” Smythe top scored for the Junior Braves with 13 points, Caleb Connick finished with 10 points and both Samuel Nitschike and Nicholas Skinner had 7 points. The Under 18 Boys will travel to Dandenong to face 8th placed Pakenham on Friday night.
