MUVJBL Round 8
Round 8 for the Junior Braves teams competing in MUVJBL was a successful one with 4 of the 5 teams winning their games. Both the Under 14 Girls and 16 Girls contributed to the MUVJBL Girls got Game Round which raised $4056 for the Helping Hoops Program, 2028 three pointers were shot for this amazing program.

Under 14 Girls
The Under 14 Girls ended their 3 game losing streak with a big win over Latrobe City Energy. The Junior Braves side ended to the game 52 to 34 which is their highest team score of the season, unfortunately there were no player stats for this game. The Under 14’s currently sit in 4th place in the MUVJBL VJL One division.
Under 16 Girls
The Under 16 Girls started their game off slow against Latrobe City Energy, only scoring 5 points to 16 in the first quarter. The Junior Braves then kicked into gear outscoring the Energy in all the other 3 quarters and winning the game 50 to 45 at the State Basketball Centre. Tayha Watkins impressed for the second week in a row, scoring 23 points and knocking down 3 three pointers with Caitlyn Richardson scoring 7 points and 1 three pointer. The Under 16’s currently sit in 2nd spot and will be hoping to make the MUVJBL National Junior Classic Tournament on the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
Under 14 Boys
After going down by 1 point last week the Under 14 Boys came out firing against Diamond Valley at the Bendigo Stadium. The Junior Braves outscored their opponents in all but the last quarter of the game winning the match 50 to 37. Martin Steen yet again had a great game scoring a season high of 17 points, Patrick Byrne along with Joshua Smith had solid games with 9 and 8 points respectively.
Under 16 Boys
The Under 16 Boys made it 3 wins in a row defeating Diamond Valley 60 to 42 at the Bendigo Stadium. Dyson Daniels scored in the double digits for the 7th time this season scoring 16 points with Jackson Fletcher stepping and scoring his season high of 14 points. The Under 16’s currently sit in 3rd spot and will be hoping to receive an invitation to the MUVJBL National Junior Classic on the Queen’s Birthday weekend.
Under 18 Boys
The Under 18 Boys couldn’t make it 2 wins a row losing out to Keilor 2 to on Court 9 at the Bendigo Stadium. Connor Mayman was the top scorer for the Junior Braves side with 8 points. The Under 18’s now go on the road against 8th placed Collingwood and then on the road to 9th placed Camberwell.
