MUVJBL Round 14

MUVJBL Round 14

Round 14 saw only 1 win for the Junior Braves sides competing in VJBL, however the Junior Braves currently have 4 out the 5 teams in finals positions. Our VC teams have 5 games to go before finals start and the VJL teams have 4 until finals start.

Under 14 Girls

The Under 14 Girls came up against 7th placed Dandenong 2, the girls had a slow start with only scoring 11 points in the first half of the game. Kaleah Bonanno and Ronell Masiboy both top scored for the game with 11 to help the Junior Braves get over the top of Dandenong 31 to 17.


Under 16 Girls

The Under 16 Girls just came up short against opponents Nunawading, losing the game 43 to 46. Holly Lockhart top scored for the Junior Braves with 13 points, Piper Dunlop wasn’t far away with 11 points and Tayha Watkins scored 8 points of her own. This loss drops the Braves to 8th and only just in finals contention, next week they come up against top of the ladder Southern Peninsula.

Under 14 Boys

The Under 14 Boys had a disappointing night against Nunawading 2 losing the match in Nunawading 69 to 38. Josiah Pattinson tops scored for the Junior Braves with 9 points and Patrick Bryne was only 1 point behind him on 8. The Under 14 Boys come up against 8th placed Mornington at Sunbury, a win could put them back in the top 4 for VJBL under 14 Boys VC Reserve.

Under 16 Boys

The Under 16 Boys were without Dyson Daniels in their loss against 1st placed Nunawading, the Braves only lost the game by 9 points with the final score being 60 to 69. Dylan McCauley had a hot hand scoring 24 points with 5 three pointers, Zac Frye had a total of 11 points and Macey Eaton finished with 9 points. The Under 16 Boys who are currently in 5th place come up against last placed Diamond at Home next week.

Under 18 Boys

The Under 18 Boys came up against 4th placed Nunawading 2, unfortunately the Junior Braves lost the game 56 to 35. Caleb Connick and William (Billy) Smythe were the joint top scorers with 11 points each. The Under 18 Boys will match up against 6th placed Melbourne Tigers 2 at the Bendigo Stadium this Friday.
